I was working job 683 moving three Run8 engines when I lost internet connection (that's Maine for yha). When I came back on the three Run8 engines disappeared.
Question, when engines are move to the fuel pad should they be fueled at that time before tagging them ready?

I just joined the server. Found the engines at Jimgreg. I AI'd them back to BAR but they need to enter yard. When someone with DS permissions is on can they allow the signals to open at Hinkley to allow it to get back to BAR.

Why would the three run8 engines that where at the storage tracks end up somewhere else? Why does losing the internet on my end affect the server? The engines that carisbadrailfan found at Jimgreg , where they the ARZC train?

If you were moving the engines West in the storage tracks when you got disconnected, it seems they just kept going West without you and just followed whatever route was lined up. I seem to remember that Run 8 would stop the train when a client disconnected, not sure if there was a change introduced somewhere or not.
Bob I remember when you were having the frequent disconnect issues when I was on the server, and each time your train kept moving when the disconnect happened.

I guess I will stop playing. I do not want to mess others up. Also the second part of my post was not answered. You should have a list of operating rules and standards for players to follow, so that every one is on the same page. A training sesson once a month that newbees could sign up for. Such as, how to call signals, proper steps for coupling and setting up the air brakes, brake handling in yards and on the main line and things like these. This would be very helpful to new players.

Bob, do not be discouraged. These things happen. While we do not have a formal training session, I have mentioned to the other admins about starting some kind of training program that members could request or sign up for. I am happy do something like this if you are interested in it. It could even be done on a separate server just for training so there is no worry of crashing the main server or anything like that. Definitely don't be afraid to speak up if you want help or guidance, or even a one on one instructional session. I know I am willing to do this, and the others might be as well. Would just be a matter of setting up a time that works for all involved, preferably outside of a session. Feel free to message me if you want to try to set something up. Best times for me are Fridays and Saturdays when I'm off work, or short sessions could be accommodated other days in the early afternoon (between 2 and 4 pm eastern). We always like to see people wanting to learn, it doesn't make you a bad member or mean that you should give up. You don't have to know everything to be a good member of our community. To be honest, this is new territory for the server admins I believe. The recent influx of active members is incredible, and if we need to make some time to help people learn, I at least am happy to do it. I think the hesitation comes from both sides. Members are afraid to ask for help with some things because they don't want to look silly, and Admins don't want to make people feel pressured or micro managed. We're all here to have fun, and the only way to do that is to communicate. We do the best we can to keep things flowing and offer help when needed, but members need to be able to speak up and tell us what they think, need, or feel on any topic. There are other servers that have much stricter rules and requirements for joining and no one here is looking to go down that path I don't think. Don't hesitate to let us know if you need help, and how we can help, either through the forum, on the server, or even in private messages here on the forum. Thanks Clint PS - Bob, you're not allowed to quit.

I agree with Clint....no one likes a quitter! And you have come a long ways already.
This dropping connections with the server isn't a policy/procedure type of thing at all. When you are dropped from the server, in my opinion your train should stop. I know in many cases in the past this was how it happened, I think something has changed with one of these updates and I will work this with Run 8.
Bob, don't be discouraged. I'm committed to getting this resolved. And by the way the server has backups every 30 minutes, so if something goes terribly wrong I can get us back to where we were, give or take a few minutes. No lives lost, no CNN news headlines, this is a simulation.
Thank you,
Mike Rice SRS Founder and Server Operator
