How bad is RTS2 wanted or needed?

This is a pretty serious question, and I'm not joking about needing suggestions on it. I was ready to throw my keyboard a few weeks back when the tags coming up completely laid my version of Hobart to waste. Of course since then I gave up on hosting for now, and rejoined SRS to work on something that someone else can scratch their head on
But I noticed that no matter how many times we try and outsmart the system in place for Run8, the system is still going to be the system. I believe I just seen a post for RICBAR where not enough cars are coming into play.
I made a post over at train-sim in reply to the massive discussion of both on and off topic posts in the thread I created. The thread basically says that there is no competition for Run8 as far as being the best "train" simulator on the planet. In other words I know there are better dispatching programs, route editors, AI dispatchers even, and steam and diesel car simulators. I still also believe that FYM Yard Duty is the best railroad simulator on the planet. But there is nothing that does what Run8 does as far as a modern "train" simulator.
But to give credit on those other best simulators, the dispatching is some what prototypical. The eye candy isn't too shabby. The AI of the trains itself is awesome. As a network it a great simulator, but once you go beyond the network and stretch into that great beyond called "where do real car loads come from" this is where Run8 begins to fall short of the likes of FYM.
RTS was created knowing this weakness. RTS was already a concept before Run8 came along, and it provided the engine to what I introduced as the RTS beta that brought car forwarding to Run8. Since V2 has come out we lost some of the access that Ski found that allowed us to better manage spawning trains. This is still possible in V2 but it's tougher again. What is also tough is when running a large network, spawning a train simply places it but DOES NOT activate AI.
Now I know for a fact Tom has been on the record over in the southeast wanting to see RTS V2. I'd go so far as to guess the SW might be open to it, since they seem to have both dispatchers and utility conductors in most sessions. But beyond a few of us, who really wants or needs RTS V2? For those that want it how bad could they want or need it to improve things? Will it make thins more challenging? I know for me in high capacity spawns and trying to run other trains in single player it would be VERY difficult but not impossible.
I've not been shy about saying, I want a second stream of income. No matter how small, anything I go after right now other than my server and running with others I do want to generate that stream. This is also why I've considered going back to the drawing board but Run8 despite the things that bother me still is the best, and is fun to run. It's a 6 year addiction I'm not prepared to let go. I also like my job, so combine this with my job, hobby, son, places to travel on day trips like this weekend. Simply put my time is very critical.
So help me out. Give me the pros and cons, and honestly who would use it or perhaps pay for it at a reasonable price. I've wanted to get into a 2nd stream with other Run8 projects and there doesn't seem to be a way in at this time. The fact is I'm spending more than I'm making despite NOT being minimum wage, yet still working 35 hours a week. My car will be paid off in a year, but even then it's going to be tight. I'm by no means broke, and have plenty of investments as well. But ultimately I need to make a decision later this year, if not sooner.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's appreciated.
