Does SRS have HP/t rules or guidelines anywhere? I am looking at doing Cargill this session. The comment in the worklist says "May need all available power in B yard for this last move. Last cut is 30 cars." I went to the loads and their weight showed as 4288. According to The Depot's calculator, 3 SD40s (I think the G-SBDSBD locos are SD40, not sure, could be SD45, I don't know how to tell the difference) would give 2.1 HP/t. That seems like enough, I think? So why would I need all seven available locomotives (the three G-SBDSBDs plus Y-SBD3021E and the three Y-SBD3021s)? Seven locomotives seems pretty crazy.

You can refer to the WC registry page, since that deals with traffic moving eastbound over Cajon. It lists BNSF Cajon as 3 HPT, a figure used for trains that might need to ascend M3 between Cajon and Summit. The 2.5 HPT figure for UP Cajon would be sufficient, since you're staying west of Keenbrook. The BAR registry has an HPT table as well for the westbound traffic we build.
3 SD40s will struggle with 24 cars on the trip to Cargill, not able to make much more than about 14 MPH. 4 would probably cover it at about 2.7 HPT, but it depends how quickly you want to get up there.
SD40s have longer front and rear walkway platforms and the 3 radiator fans atop the long hood are more closely spaced than the SD45-2. I'm not sure if there's any noticeable performance difference between the two in Run8, though I'm sure they programmed them differently.

And on that note their will be a change to how the Cargill turn runs will run again. So the plan is to just use some of the power that comes in on the G-COKSBD for the Cargill turn. I will be updating the instruction this weekend.
