Hi,
I only own the 'base' run8, so I can only take care of trains in the Mojave and Needles subs. How is a train that goes to a server scenary i don't own handled? Can I take care of it and AI recrew it at my scenary end, or is it better to run trains along my own scenaries? (I.e M-BARBAK1 or something like that)
I'm considering buying SB and Cajon, as this damn simulator is quite addictive, but I would like to know how to behave on "on duty" sessions in the meanwhile.
In any case, I keep improving my skills over single player sessions.
And taking advantage of this post... What do I need to communicate to DS? I'm very used with air simulating communications, but no idea about railway communications. Can you advise me on any page I can have a look on? or some quick tips/tricks
Regards,

Hi, as far as routes go you can run a train as far as the routes that you own take you as long as you do not run the train off the end of the route. So for example, if you leave Barstow and head towards CP Lenwood which would lead down the Cajon Route, I believe just after CP Lenwood the tracks will come to an end for you. All you need to do is stop short of the end of the line and AI Recrew the train. If you run all the way to the end of the line, I am pretty sure the client will delete the train, which we do not want to happen.
As far as communications go, there is a video in the SRS Training Video Series that covers radio channels and how to switch channels and tone the dispatcher. If you still have questions after watching that video, please post a specific question that you need answered. All communications are mostly handled via in-game chat using the Tab key while on the server, but you need to switch to the proper road channel.

Thank you!
Good note on stop the train before arriving the end of the scenary.
On the communication side, my question was more focused on what to comunicate (diverging, approach medium, red signals...) than in how to manage the radio itself, anyway, I will take a look on the video.

Ahh, this applies to West Coast railroads only, as East Coast railroads have different requirements. So just keep this in mind if operating on a server with one of the East Coast routes.
For West Coast radio communications, the only signals that are required to be called are everything except clear signals.
