Hello,
I am just watching some of the jobs free, and don't want to make them because I don't understand quite well what it is needed to do:
1. Build LOP92 by combining cars on tracks 2 3 & 4 together onto one of those tracks. Make registry entry reflecting the current situation after these moves. That is a MMJMJ job. What is that kind of job? What does MMJMJ stands for? LOP92 is a train that goes from Mojave to West Colton, but which cars would I need to put in the train? There are some that goes to Yermo, that is in the opposite direction I believe...
2. Switcher and cars to be spotted are near M1. Spot gondolas in two tracks at south end of the plant. Spot box cars in the siding on the Eastern side of the yard adjacent to the industry, also on the Eastern most track in the 4 track yard adjacent to the industry. RightCtrl F8 should help you identify these tracks. a). What is a Switcher job? What does it means Spot a car? (I know the word spot = look, find... etc.. but not if it has a meaning in rail world) b). You ask about finding gondolas and box cars. For me, lots of cars are box default run8 cars, as I don't have the payware vaggons addons, so I guess is better to say in this cases about tags instead of descriptions of the cars to find...
Is there any documentation to describe what each job more or less is? I mean, I know now what is "Block cars" and "sort" cars, but not "switcher", "MMJMJ", "yard" (I suppose is anything related in a yard to be done), etc...
Thanks!

japo32,
I went in a few hours ago and completed the job listed in Mojave. There was a question about the instructions on one job, but I left it as is. A switcher is the name given to a set of locomotives that are used to move cars around in a given location (yard). In the case at Mojave, I did not see a locomotive assigned as the switcher so I pulled the sd40's that were there. Whether this is the appropriate move or not I am not sure, but I made it work with what was available. The assignment is completed if you want to check it out. Maybe this helps.

Japo,
1) Without logging into the server and being able to see how the Mojave yard looked, I am going to explain this based on just the work list instruction and assume all cars that reside in tracks 2, 3 & 4 were tagged as outbound tags instead of inbound tags. Basically all Mike is asking is that all cars that reside on tracks 2, 3 & 4 be combine into one single train on one of the mentioned tracks. So you could choose track 2, 3 or 4 to place all the outbound cars on. You are correct that LOP92 goes to West Colton for sorting. So there is no need to sort out the Yermo bound cars in the Mojave yard. This is because Mojave is not considered a classification yard, where as West Colton is a classification yard.
As for the MMJMJ symbol, I believe Mike meant to input YMJMJ which would refer to a local yard job. Y indicates yard jobs and MJMJ indicates the location the job is to operate in. I am assuming the first M was a typo.
Power for the LOP92 is the power that came in from the last LOQ91 that arrived in Mojave. This should be stored somewhere in the yard. Once you have the train built with the power attached, then you would make a registry update for Mojave to reflect which track in the yard LOP92 resides on, train length, tonnage and set it to released.
2) A switcher job is a particular type of job that works only one particular industry (most of the time). So larger plants that need to move freight cars around multiple times during the day usually have a what is referred to as a "plant switcher" instead of relying on the local railroad to do the switching for them like a warehouse, lumber yard or other industry that doesn't require the freight cars get switched multiple times during the day. This usually saves a plant money versus paying for the railroad to switch the plant for them.
Spotting a car means placing a car or cars on a particular industry track. Let me know if this clears up what spotting is or if you want a further explanation.
You make an excellent point about the gondolas. Since you do not have all the add-on car packs, you are correct that all the rail cars will appear to be the same. Something you can do is refer to the switch list (R-Ctrl L) or the industry config (L-Ctrl L). Using the switch list, you will see where is your train the cars for a particular industry are located. So for example, in the list you see that the cars are the 4th and 5th car in your train. All you need to do is count back from the locomotives to the 4th and 5th car. There is a problem using this method, as you are switching, I have noticed that the list doesn't always update to reflect the correct order of the cars in your train. Sean has pointed this out multiple times in some of his videos. Also, if you have the cars connected on the head end of your train instead of behind your train it lists the cars in reverse order.
So I recommend using the industry list instead. By using the industry list, you can see what the inbound tags are for the particular cars you are looking for. This way you just need to find them in your train so you know which cars to "spot" or "place" at the industry.
Hopefully this helps clear up any confusion. If not, please let us know which part you are still confused about and I will try to figure out another way to explain it.
