I'm glad you have found this site and can't wait to see you out on the rails soon. The current server has been in place since late June 2016, and has seen action as the RTS California Server for both Run8v1 and Run8v2. SRS started operations in Spring of 2017 and we managed to keep things running for the balance of the year. 2018 brought many challenges with my availability as a server owner/operator, and the release of the LA Area by Run 8 has brought many changes to the operations plan. We have worked through most of these challenges and have now stabilized thanks to a great admin staff and key members stepping up to make it happen.
Southwest Rail Simulations multiplayer server is a "prototypical" server. I intend to keep things as real as possible, but I'm ok to bend reality a bit if it makes operations a little more interesting. We operating in a frozen clock operating model, which means the clock within Run 8 on the server will be paused except for when we are running a session with dispatchers on duty. The server will be on-line 24x7, and there will be many yard/switching jobs that can be performed either during a dispatcher session or between sessions. It's important to keep a balance between mainline train movements and the work in yards, so planned dispatcher sessions will be tentatively scheduled but could change if we aren't keeping up with yard/local work.
To gain access to the server you need to read through all of these documents in the "Welcome" section and become a member of this forum site. I'm not looking to do any pre-qualification rides and I don't need to know your background for you to become a member. It is necessary that you know the basics of operating a train using Run8v2, and control your train speed appropriately. I'm willing to help folks out, and I know others will as well.
Best Regards,
Mike
